Privacy policy

This page explains, in plain English, what happens to your data when you use aidyr.com. It describes what the site actually does today, not what a template says a website might do.

Who is responsible

The controller of your data is the person who writes and runs this site, established in Spain. The identification details are in the image below (as an image, to keep them away from spam robots) and in the legal notice.

When you just read the site

No cookies. The site doesn’t set any cookies of its own, for statistics or anything else, and there’s no account to create, no newsletter and no mailing list.

Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare handles your connection details (such as your IP address) in order to deliver the pages to your browser. The basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure.

Visit statistics. To know which pages are useful and which aren’t, the site uses Umami, a cookie-free analytics tool that runs on my own server (analitica.teky.es), not on a third-party platform. It counts page views and a few actions on the page: for example, clicks on links to tool pages or on a tool’s official button (and whether that button was seen), how far down a page you read and for how long, playing a video, using a filter, the index or the price table, opening an image, which parts of the home page get clicked, and the referring site when a page isn’t found. Umami uses your IP address and browser details only to work out an approximate country and the type of device; the IP itself isn’t stored, and the statistics can’t be linked back to you. They’re kept for as long as the site runs, to compare its traffic over time. The basis for this is my legitimate interest in knowing what works on the site; you can block it with any content blocker and the site will work just the same.

The search box. When you use the site’s search, the term you type is recorded in those same statistics so I can see which tools people look for and don’t find. Before it’s sent, it’s lowercased and cut to 60 characters, and anything that looks like an email address or a number of four or more digits is replaced. It’s the only thing you type that gets measured.

Videos. Embedded YouTube videos appear as a thumbnail stored on this site: nothing is requested from Google or YouTube until you click play. Only when you click does the video load, from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), and from that moment Google’s own privacy policy applies to that video.

When you leave a review or a comment

If you write a review of a tool or a comment, this is what is kept:

  • The display name you choose, your text and the date. For reviews, also your rating and what you use the tool for. No email is ever asked for.
  • To stop spam, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re a person. It only loads when you open the form.
  • Your IP address is never stored as it is. What’s kept is a keyed, one-way hash of it, used only to stop floods and duplicates, and it’s wiped after 30 days.
  • Everything is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. I review each submission before it goes live. Anything that isn’t published is deleted 30 days after it’s reviewed; what is published stays for as long as the page exists, or until you ask me to remove it.
  • Your browser also remembers, on your own device, that you sent something, so it can show you “pending review” when you come back. That stays in your browser and never reaches me.

The legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form and can withdraw at any time.

When you use the contact form

Messages sent through the contact form go to the same Cloudflare D1 database, with the same spam check and the same one-way hash instead of your IP address, but they are never published. I read them, act on them, and delete them 30 days after dealing with them. No email address is asked for: if you’d like an answer, include a way to reach you in your message, and it will be used only to answer you. The legal basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the form.

Advertising

There are no ads running on aidyr.com at the moment, and no advertising cookies. If ads are switched on, you’ll be asked for your consent before any advertising cookie is used, and this page will be updated with the date of the change.

Who else handles your data

Only the providers the site needs in order to work:

  • Cloudflare: hosting (Cloudflare Pages), the database that holds reviews and comments (D1) and the anti-spam check on the form (Turnstile).
  • Google (YouTube): only if you click play on a video.

Cloudflare and Google are based in the United States, so using them can mean your data is transferred there. Both take part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and the transfer relies on it (and on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses in their terms).

Your data isn’t sold or passed on to anyone for marketing.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time, through the contact form or the address above, to:

  • Access the data I hold about you.
  • Correct it if it’s wrong.
  • Delete it. For a review or a comment, that means I remove it from the database and the page is rebuilt without it.
  • Restrict its use while a request of yours is being checked.
  • Get a copy of what you sent, in a portable format.
  • Object to its use, or withdraw your consent.

You don’t need to send a copy of any ID: I’ll only ask for an extra check if there’s a reasonable doubt about who you are. And if you feel your data hasn’t been handled properly, you have the right to complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, AEPD).

If you’re in the United States

I don’t sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and I don’t use it for targeted advertising or profiling. You can still ask me to access, correct or delete what I hold about you, in the same way as above, and you won’t be treated differently for doing so. The site isn’t aimed at children under 13 and I don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this page

If anything about how the site handles data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
