    That day OpenAI shut down the website and the app, and announced that its video API would be switched off on 24 September 2026, with no model to replace it.

    Why
    It was an experimental project by Moonshot AI, the Chinese company behind Kimi, which stopped updating it in September 2024. Its makers announced the shutdown on their official channel.
