My verdict
In IT since 2002: systems, engineering, web development and SEO. I have been doing business with AI since February 2023, when ChatGPT could first be bought in Spain.
Jasper is no longer the simple AI copywriting tool some people remember. It's an AI platform for marketing teams, built around your brand voice, your company knowledge and a set of ready-made marketing agents. There's no free plan: Pro costs $59 a month per seat billed yearly, or $69 month to month, and Business is priced on request. You can try Pro free for 7 days, but only after you enter a card, and nothing in the app works before that. If you're a marketing team that needs many people to sound like one brand, it's worth a trial. If you just want an AI to help you write, a general chatbot costs less and has a free plan.

Jasper AI is an AI platform for marketing teams: it writes blog posts, ads, emails, social posts and images in your brand's voice, and it comes with ready-made marketing agents. Is Jasper AI free? No. There's no free plan, only a 7-day free trial of the Pro plan, and it asks for your card before you can use anything. Pro costs $59 a month per seat if you pay for the year up front ($708) or $69 month to month, and the Business plan is priced on request.
Jasper AI pricing, the short version (Important)
- Free plan: none. The 7-day free trial is for Pro, and you have to add a card to start it.
- Pro, billed yearly: $59 a month per seat, which is $708 paid up front for 12 months.
- Pro, billed monthly: $69 a month per seat, cancel anytime.
- Business: custom pricing, through sales, with a 12-month commitment.
- Prices are in US dollars, and Jasper adds any applicable tax at checkout.
What Jasper is today
If you remember Jasper as a copywriting tool, it has changed a lot. Jasper now calls itself "the AI platform built for marketing performance," and its homepage pitches "Applied AI for Enterprise Marketing." The idea is that a general chatbot doesn't know your brand, and Jasper does: you feed it brand voices, audiences, a style guide and your company's own documents, and everything it writes is supposed to follow them.
The main pieces are Canvas, the workspace where you create and edit content; Agents, which are AI assistants for specific marketing jobs like SEO, research or translation; Jasper Chat; and an image suite that generates and edits campaign images, removes or replaces backgrounds, upscales and creates product shots. Jasper says it can create content in dozens of languages, and there's a browser extension for Chrome and Edge so you can use it on other sites.
On the Business plan you also get Jasper Studio, a no-code builder for your own agents, and Jasper Grid, which Jasper describes as being for "scaled systematic content execution": the same job run over many pieces at once.
How I tested it
I started where you would, on the "Start Free 7-Day Trial" button. The sign-up page says "Create your free account" and "Try Jasper free for 7 days," with a Google button or your email. I signed up with a Google account.
Next comes a friendly little setup chat: "Hi, I'm Jasper! Let's get your account set up." It asks for your name, your industry, the size of your company, the kind of work you do and your marketing function. I said content marketing, and it replied that it couldn't wait to show me its agents for content marketing. Then it asks you to name your workspace and offers to read a blog post or landing page from your site to set up your Brand Voice, which you can skip and do later. I skipped it. So far, so pleasant.
Is Jasper AI free? Here's where the card comes in
Right after the setup chat, Jasper shows a "Start your free 7-day trial" screen with only two options: Pro, at $59 a month per seat with yearly billing or $69 on the monthly switch, and Business, with "Contact sales." There's no free plan on that screen and no way to skip it. When I tried to go straight to the chat, I landed back on the same plan screen.
I clicked "Select plan" on Pro and got "Add billing details for Pro": card number, expiration date and security code, with payments through Stripe. The order summary is honest about what happens: $0 due today, "7 days free," and $69 due after the trial ends if you stay on monthly billing. On yearly billing, the amount due after the trial is $708. The small print says that by subscribing you authorize Jasper to charge you until you cancel.
That's where I stopped. I didn't enter a card, and without one Canvas and the agents stay locked. What you get in those 7 days is the full Pro plan, and Jasper's launch video in this review gives you a decent look inside before you decide.
Put the end of the trial in your calendar (Heads-up)
Since the trial starts with your card on file, it turns into a paid plan on day 8 unless you cancel. If you pick yearly billing, that first charge is $708, not $59. According to Jasper's FAQ, you can cancel anytime and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Jasper AI pricing: Pro vs. Business
Jasper's pricing page shows yearly billing by default, which is why most people see $59. Here are the two plans side by side, read in US dollars:
| Feature | Pro | Business |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $59 a month per seat billed yearly ($708), or $69 month to month | Custom pricing, through sales |
| Commitment | None on monthly, 12 months on yearly | 12-month minimum |
| Seats | 1 | Multiple seats, for large teams |
| Brand voices, audiences and knowledge | 2 brand voices, 3 audiences and 5 knowledge assets | Unlimited |
| Agents | Ready-made agents for core marketing work | Plus agents for complex work (GEO, translations, deep research) and your own custom agents |
| Jasper Grid, Studio and API | No | Yes |
| Admin controls and SSO | No | Yes |
| Support | Priority support and an account manager | |
| Free trial | 7 days, with a card | Demo through sales |
The jump between the two is bigger than it looks in the table. Pro is a one-person plan: Jasper's FAQ says that if you need more than one user, you contact sales to set up Business. So a team of three doesn't pay 3 × $59; it goes into a custom quote.
A few more details from the pricing FAQ. Yearly billing saves "~20%," according to the pricing page, though the checkout labeled it "Save 14%" for me, which is what $59 against $69 actually works out to. Monthly billing lets you pause for 30 days instead of canceling. Some features, like the GEO Hub and agents on Business, run on credits on top of the seats, while normal writing in Chat and Canvas doesn't use them. Nonprofits get 20% off: you start a trial and then email Jasper with proof of nonprofit status. The plagiarism checker is a Copyscape add-on, not part of the price.
What you can use without paying
Inside the app, nothing, as far as I could see: without a card, the plan screen is the only thing you get. Outside it, Jasper's website has a few free tools under Resources: a GEO Diagnostic, a Brand Compliance Diagnostic that checks how consistent your site's public content is with your brand (Jasper says it takes about a minute and only uses public content), an ROI calculator and a prompt library. They're more of a sales pitch than a way to try the product, but they cost nothing and don't need a card.
Is Jasper AI worth it?
If you run marketing at a company where several people write, and the problem is that your blog, ads and emails all sound different, Jasper is built for exactly that. Brand voices, audiences and company knowledge that every piece follows are things a general chatbot doesn't keep for a whole team, and the Business plan adds the admin side companies ask for. Take the 7-day trial with a real project ready to go, because a week passes fast.
If you're a solo blogger, a freelancer or a student who just wants help writing, $59 to $69 a month for one seat is a lot. A general-purpose AI with a free plan, or a paid plan at around $20, will write your posts just fine, and you can build your own "brand voice" with a good set of instructions.

ChatGPT · OpenAI
Free with limits · from $8/mo
A general AI for writing, research and images, with a free plan and paid plans from $8 a month.
ChatGPT is where most people start, and it covers most writing jobs on its free plan. If you write long pieces and care about tone, Claude has a free plan too, and Pro costs $20 a month. And if your team already plans and drafts in Notion, Notion AI puts the AI inside the same docs, which can be all the "brand system" a small team needs.

Jasper's short launch video for Canvas, the workspace where you create content, and Agents, AI assistants that Jasper says are trained on your brand and workflows. It's the quickest look at what the app looks like inside.
Who is it for? For in-house marketing teams and agencies that write a lot of content and need it to stay on-brand across people and channels. Less so for solo bloggers or students who only want help writing, who'll pay less elsewhere.
What I like and what I don’t
What I like
- Built for marketing: brand voices, audiences and company knowledge (plus a style guide on Business) feed every piece it writes.
- Clear public price for Pro, in US dollars, and you can cancel the monthly plan anytime.
- Business adds a no-code builder for custom agents, Jasper Grid for content at scale, API access and admin controls.
What I don’t
- No free plan, and the 7-day trial asks for your card before you can use anything.
- Pro is one seat only: a second person means talking to sales about Business.
- At $59 to $69 a month for one seat, it costs about three times what ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro charges ($20).

How I tested it
On October 30, 2026, I signed up for Jasper with a Google account in a browser set to US English, and went through the setup chat, the plan screen and the free trial's billing page. I stopped there because the trial asks for a card, and the card form is as far as the trial goes without paying. I read the pricing page and its FAQ, with prices shown in US dollars, and I didn't pay for anything. The screenshots are from that session.
Jasper shows its Optimization Agent, which looks at search trends, competitors and your existing content and turns that into a strategy report. Watch it if SEO is the reason you're looking at Jasper.
