My verdict

In IT since 2002: systems, engineering, web development and SEO. I have been doing business with AI since February 2023, when ChatGPT could first be bought in Spain.

Solvely is a homework helper and study app: you type or upload a problem and it gives you the answer with numbered steps, plus flashcards and quizzes from your files, and practice exams. It's free, but only with an account and only for a couple of problems a day: my fourth question hit a paywall. The three answers I got were right and well explained. Pro is $12.99 a month, $67.99 a year, or $8.99 a week after a $3.99 first week.

Solvely is an AI homework helper and study app: you type a problem or upload a photo or PDF, and it answers with numbered steps. It also makes flashcards and quizzes from your files, plus practice exams. If you searched for "Solvy AI", this is very likely the one you meant. Is Solvely free? Yes, but only with an account and only for a couple of problems a day: without signing in I got a login box instead of an answer, and with my free account the fourth question of the day hit a paywall. Pro costs $12.99 a month, $67.99 a year, or $3.99 for the first week and then $8.99 a week.

Is Solvely free? The short version (Tip)

$0 (Starter) gets you a couple of solved problems a day once you sign in; the pricing page says 2 solves. $12.99 a month is Pro on monthly billing, with unlimited solving plus the flashcards, quizzes, mock exams and live notes. $67.99 a year is the same Pro, and works out much cheaper if you'll use it all school year. The weekly plan starts at $3.99 and then renews at $8.99 every week, so keep an eye on it before it renews again.

What Solvely is right now

Solvely is made by Aignite Inc. and runs on the web, as an iPhone and Android app, and as a Chrome extension. The home page is a single box where you type the problem or drop a file, with a row of tools above it: Solver, Whiteboard Tutor (marked as new), Flashcards, Quiz and Study Guide. Two more tabs, Exam Prep and Writing, sit next to it.

Solvely review

Solvely says it cross-checks answers with several AI models, and its pricing page calls its solver "up to 95% accurate." I can't measure a claim like that with three problems, so treat those as the company's claims. What I can tell you is what happened with mine.

Is Solvely free? What happened when I tried

First, without an account. I typed a simple rectangle problem and pressed Solve. Instead of an answer, a "Welcome back to Solvely" box appeared with Google, Apple, Facebook and email sign-in, plus a line saying that by continuing you confirm you're at least 13. So you can't try it anonymously: you need an account to see an answer.

I signed in with Google. It asked for nothing else, no birthday, phone or card, and the question I had already typed came back answered.

Then I kept going. The second and third problems were answered as well. On the fourth, instead of an answer, I got "2 free chats each day. Upgrade for unlimited access," a button to install the Chrome extension "for more free solves," and the upgrade window. My free account gave me three answers that day, counting the one I typed before signing in.

The price inside your account can be different (Heads-up)

Once I was signed in (browsing from outside the US), the upgrade window showed other prices and a bigger first-week discount than the public pricing page. In the iPhone app, the in-app purchases listed on the US App Store include a year of access at $46.99 and a weekly plan at $6.99. Before you pay, check the price on the exact screen where you're buying, and note whether it renews weekly.

How good were the answers

All three answers were right, and I checked each one by hand.

The first was a word problem: a rectangle whose length is 3 cm more than twice its width, with a perimeter of 54 cm. Solvely set up the equation, solved it in five numbered steps and landed on 8 cm wide and 19 cm long. Each step had a title and a sentence explaining what it was doing, which is the bit that matters if you're trying to learn the method, not just copy the number.

The steps written out (1), and the follow-ups it offers after every answer (2).

The second was the kind of thing a parent might actually ask: an $80 jacket at 25% off, with 8% sales tax added to the sale price. Solvely gave $60 for the sale price and $64.80 at the register, with a small summary table of the discount and the tax. That's correct.

The final answer block for the discount problem: $60 on sale, $64.80 with tax (1).

The third was a plain linear equation, 2(x − 4) + 3 = 5x − 11. It distributed, combined terms and got x = 2, in four steps.

Every answer also came with a short "video explanation" card (under a minute each time), a "Tutor Me 1:1 on the Whiteboard" button, and three follow-ups: Practice similar questions, Dive deeper and Memorize with flashcards. I didn't use the videos or the whiteboard; they're there for you to try on your own problems.

Solvely pricing: Starter and Pro

These are the prices on solvely.ai's pricing page as of October 28, 2026, in US dollars. The page doesn't say whether tax is added.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Starter$0"Limited access to solutions": 2 solves, account required
Pro, weekly$3.99 the first week, then $8.99 a weekUnlimited solving, flashcards, quizzes, mock exams, cheat sheets, live notes and writing tools
Pro, monthly$12.99 a monthThe same Pro, billed monthly
Pro, yearly$67.99 a yearThe same Pro, billed once a year (Solvely calls it a 56% saving)

The pricing page on Monthly: Starter includes 2 solves (1), Pro is $12.99 a month (2).

A bit of math on the weekly plan, since it's the one marked "Most Popular": $8.99 a week adds up to well over the $12.99 monthly price within a month. Unless you only need Solvely for a single exam week and cancel right after, monthly or yearly is the better deal. Solvely's FAQ says you can cancel any time: from your account page if you paid on the web, or from your Apple subscriptions if you paid in the iPhone app.

Learning with it, not just copying

My take, for students and parents: Solvely shows its work, and that's where it's useful: you can follow each step, see where you went wrong on your own attempt, and then hit "Practice similar questions" to try one by yourself. If you only copy the final answer, you'll have homework done and a test you're not ready for, and a tool can't fix that part for you.

For parents, two practical notes. The sign-in box asks you to confirm you're at least 13. And the cheapest-looking option, the weekly plan, is the one that renews fastest, so it's worth checking who's paying for what.

Who Solvely is for, and who should skip it

Solvely makes sense if you're a student who gets stuck on math or science problems and wants to see the steps, or a parent who wants to check a homework answer quickly. The free plan is enough for a problem or two a day. Pro makes sense when exams come around, when the mock exams, quizzes and flashcards come into play: monthly for a crunch, yearly if you'll use it all school year.

Skip it if you need lots of questions answered for free, or if what you really want is one assistant for school and everything else.

Solvely or something else?

If you'd rather not add another subscription, ChatGPT has a free plan with unlimited text chats; Plus is $20 a month. Gemini is free with a Google Account, and Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month. Solvely's edge is that it's built for studying: the steps, the practice questions and the exam tools are right there after every answer.

Who is it for? For high school and college students who want to see how a problem is solved, step by step, and for parents checking homework. If you only need a problem or two a day, the free plan covers it; if you want a general assistant for everything, a chatbot's free plan goes further.

What I like and what I don’t

What I like

  • The three math problems I gave it came back right, with every step written out and a short explanation of why.
  • After each answer it offers buttons for similar practice questions and flashcards, which is how you actually learn the method.
  • Signing in with Google was quick: no birthday, phone number or card.

What I don’t

  • Without an account you can type a problem but you don't get an answer: Solve opens a sign-in box.
  • The free plan is tight: my fourth question of the day was blocked with "2 free chats each day. Upgrade for unlimited access."
  • Prices change depending on where you buy: the website and the iPhone app don't show the same numbers.

How I tested it

On October 28, 2026, I used solvely.ai in English, first without an account and then signed in with Google on the free plan. I gave it four math problems of my own (a rectangle word problem, a discount with sales tax, a linear equation and a slope), checked the answers by hand, and read the pricing page and the in-app purchases on the US App Store. I didn't pay for anything. The screenshots are mine.
